The Mahindra XUV700 is one of the most technologically advanced and safest cars in the country. It has scored a perfect 5-star safety rating from GNCAP. However, recently an owner of an XUV700 shared his near-death experience and highlighted a huge safety concern regarding this SUV. The owner revealed that even after flipping over 6 times, the front airbags of the SUV did not deploy. Thankfully, he still managed to come out with a few minor injuries.

The incident of this extremely terrifying accident has come courtesy of Tejeshwar Reddy from X (formerly Twitter). The owner, in his tweet addressed to Anand Mahindra, narrated his entire story. He stated that on the early morning of April 25th, 2024, while traversing NH44 near Dhone, Andhra Pradesh, his XUV700 AX7 was involved in a severe accident.
He elaborated that despite the vehicle rolling over six times, the front airbags of his SUV failed to deploy. He narrated that this left Kiran and the passengers with him exposed to significant risk. Kiran stated that he was in shock and disbelief after discovering the malfunction of the vehicle’s safety features.
Was the driver wearing seat belts?
Kiran, in his tweet, highlighted that despite properly wearing seat belts during the crash and rollover, the front airbags did not open. He added that this is a catastrophic event. Kiran highlighted that this incident raises serious doubts about the efficacy and reliability of the XUV700’s advertised safety mechanisms.
What happened next?
The owner of the car also mentioned that after inspecting the wreckage of his XUV700 post-accident, Kiran found that only the left curtain airbags had deployed, while the critical front airbags remained unopened.
He stated that this is a glaring oversight from Mahindra. Adding to the letter, he stated that he requests Mahindra to urgently and thoroughly investigate and address any potential defects in the safety systems of the XUV700 AX7 Petrol model.
Do front airbags deploy during a rollover accident?
